In the late 1940's, the Royal Roost jazz club in Manhattan
was the site of weekly live radio broadcasts. Acts such as
Count Basie, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie
swung and bebopped at the Royal Roost (or as DJ "Symphony" Sid Torin called it "the metropolitan bopera house"). One of Sid's distinctive introductions is heard here.
